Student Leadership

As a Round Square school, we share a commitment to character education that is built upon six fundamental Ideals and our students are encouraged to engage with these Ideals in a variety of ways. One of the key ways we do this at Kingsley is by providing Senior School and Sixth Form students the chance to join our active Leadership Team.

As leaders and role models within our school community, students learn that good leadership involves understanding, empathy and kindness. They get to work closely with Prep School children to help enhance their learning and to nurture and guide them as they progress through the school.

MENTORSHIP

Many students throughout the school act as mentors to younger students, or those needing a listening ear and some friendly support. Kingsley aims to provide students with a wide range of leadership opportunities through their engagement in everyday school life, including the Student Voice forums in both Prep and Senior Schools, and through a variety of co-curricular activities.

SELECTING A STUDENT LEADERSHIP TEAM

Our Student Leadership Team goes through a rigorous selection process and plays a vital role in the life of the school. The team includes Head of School, Deputy Head’s of School, Senior Prefects and a range of other Prefect roles, all of which make a great contribution through charity initiatives, fun events and  more.

THE KINGSLEY HOUSE SYSTEM

The House System also gives students of all ages the chance to organise activities and to lead others to give their best in different competitions: Sixth Form students are particularly active in their roles as House Prefects, but responsibility is often given to younger students to organise teams and other house groups.

CO-CURRICULAR OPPORTUNITIES

There are many opportunities for individuals to show leadership in sport, through their own excellence or commitment, or in their desire to encourage others. Co-curricular activities such as the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme, World Challenge, Young Enterprise and whole-school charity fundraising events also provide many leadership opportunities, as well as aligning with our other Round Square Ideals.
