While our LRC retains a strong sense of Kingsley’s heritage, it has been fully enhanced to enable future-ready learning. Student’s have secure WIFI access from a number of computers, while our ‘Cyber Corner’ is designed as a quick reference space for emails and any information they may need.
There is an excellent stock of contemporary and classic fiction, which is reviewed regularly, but also an increasingly wide range of other resources, including non-fiction books, subject-related resources such as textbooks, reference material and magazines. Multi-media resources can also be borrowed on a short-term loan, for which there is no charge.
LRC staff actively encourage and promote reading for pleasure and in conjunction with the Schools Library Service run book reading groups which shadow both the Carnegie Award and the Warwickshire Book Award. We ensure that we have available material to suit all tastes, compile lists of recommended fiction, and display reader reviews. The LRC also displays student artwork, curriculum supporting information, local theatre information and useful study websites. English teachers bring Years 7, 8 and 9 to the LRC once a week for a quiet reading lesson.
