Prep School

Co-Curricular

Co-curricular life is a vibrant and integral part of the Kingsley Prep experience, with three timetabled enrichment sessions each week for all pupils from Reception upwards. These sessions guarantee that every child benefits from an inspiring programme of activities and experiences beyond the classroom.

Our enrichment offering evolves termly, giving pupils regular opportunities to try something different and explore new interests throughout the year. Recent sessions have included kickboxing, gardening, fashion design, chess and creative writing – just a handful of the wide-ranging options available. During the Summer Term, we take full advantage of the warmer weather to expand our outdoor provision, introducing activities such as horse riding.

"I love horse riding. It has really built my confidence and made me braver."
Chloe, Year 5

As a small school, we are able to respond to the individual interests of our pupils. The School Council plays an active role in shaping the following term’s enrichment programme, and members of our Year 6 Leadership Team relish the chance to lead their own sessions – an excellent way to develop leadership skills and inspire younger pupils. Staff are equally enthusiastic about sharing their own passions, strengthening relationships and adding to the already strong sense of community that exists in Prep.

Alongside timetabled enrichment sessions, we offer a busy schedule of lunchtime and after-school clubs. Lunchtime clubs run daily and are largely music-focused, with opportunities including Prep Orchestra, String Group, and choirs for both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. After school, pupils can take part in a variety of activities such as Forest School, multi-sports and basketball.

"My favourite enrichment activity is Forest School. We track wildlife and build dens. I like being in nature."
Ezra, Year 1

All pupils, including those in our Little Aviators Pre-school, enjoy termly trips, designed to enrich and extend their learning across the 4D curriculum. Visits range from museums and aquariums to historical sites such as Warwick Castle. Pupils in Years 3 and 4 enjoy their first residential experience, spending between three and five nights away from home, building confidence through outdoor adventure and teamwork. By Year 6, pupils look forward to an overseas residential in France or Spain – an exciting opportunity to build independence, practise language skills and immerse themselves in a different culture.

Our Round Square membership connects pupils and staff with schools across the globe through specially curated virtual events, offering our young learners a window into life beyond the UK and a chance to see themselves as global citizens.

"I love taking part in Little Lawyers because we learn all about the law. I want to be in the Government when I’m older."
