Welcome to The Kingsley School!

We’re delighted that your child will be joining us, and we look forward to welcoming your family into our community.

As you prepare for the exciting journey ahead, we’ve gathered some useful documents and links to help you get ready for the start of school. Please take some time to review them carefully and return any required forms.

What is the postcode for The Kingsley School Playing Fields?
Postcode CV32 6RD.

Does my child need additional Sport Equipment?
For Year 4 and above your child will need:
  • Footwear (Training shoes - any colour)
  • Astroturf trainers (hockey team members only)
  • Shin pads
  • Mouth guard (can be purchased on Amazon, any sports shop or fitted by your own dentist. The school will provide students with a temporary one at a cost of £3 should your child forget this).
In addition to the above, it's strongly recommended for all students and compulsory for all team members to have:
  • Hockey stick
  • Tennis racquet
Does my child require a calculator?
Yes, and please note, the Casio scientific calculator is recommended by the Mathematics Department.

Does my child require a compass set?
Yes.

Does my child require a French and Spanish Dictionary?
Yes, the Oxford Collins Pocket French/Spanish Dictionary is recommended and will last up to and including GCSE examinations.

Does my child require headphones?
Yes.
What equipment do I need?
We would suggest that to begin with, you have at least one ring binder folder per subject. You should have a full pencil case of pens; highlighters and any specific items needed for your subjects. We also recommend that you have a diary/planner which could be either physical or electronic.

Is there a dress code?
Yes, we expect our Sixth Formers to adhere to a business dress code. You should have a blazer which must be worn when over in Senior School. Please see the dress code policy for more details.

Will I still have games lessons?
Yes, you will have games once a week and will need a Kingsley PE kit

Can I go into town during the day?
As long as your parents haven’t denied permission, you may walk into town during break and lunchtimes. You may go into town at other times with the teacher's permission.

Am I able to work in a cafe in town during my study period?
No, you must spend all your study periods on the school site, either in the Sixth Form Building or in Senior School. You are welcome to use the LRC as a base to work.

Do I need to bring my own device?
Yes, you will need to bring your own learning device as per our BYOD policy

Will I have preparation for my subjects over the summer?
Yes, all your subjects will give you some independent learning activities to complete over the summer which are designed to assess your strengths and highlight areas that may need to be a focus for you to be a successful Sixth Form student.

How can I make a contribution to the school?
There are many ways you can enrich the whole school through your contributions. For example, you can use your strengths and interests to lead clubs and activities, join the Sixth Form Student Leadership Team (SFSLT), and help with events and fundraising across the school. We are always open to new ideas and will support you in making a difference.
