The Year 6 production of The Addams Family proved to be a spectacular evening of music, comedy and wonderfully gothic entertainment, delighting audiences with two energetic and highly polished performances from the talented young cast.
Leading the way was Ashwin as Gomez Addams, delivering an outstanding performance full of charisma, humour and impeccable comedic timing. His confident stage presence and hilarious delivery had the audience laughing throughout the show, perfectly capturing Gomez’s eccentric personality and loveable charm.
Alongside him, Eishar gave a tremendous performance as Morticia Addams. Elegant, poised and wonderfully mysterious, she brought real grace to the role, while also stunning the audience with a beautiful vocal performance that showcased both her stage presence and musical talent.
Rosie impressed as Wednesday Addams, portraying the famously dark and dramatic daughter with real confidence and flair. Her commanding stage presence and expressive acting perfectly suited the character, while Emilia gave a thoroughly entertaining performance as Pugsley, capturing the role’s cheeky and mischievous nature brilliantly.
Chloe shone in the role of Lucas Beineke, Wednesday’s awkward but sincere love interest. Her performance was both earnest and assured, creating some lovely moments on stage. Supporting her were Amelia and Annabel as Mr and Mrs Beineke, who delivered wonderfully uptight and comedic performances that brought plenty of humour to the production.
Another great performance came from Alisha as Grandma Addams. Full of personality, she delivered her one-liners with excellent comic effect, earning plenty of laughs from the audience throughout the evening.
Special mention must also go to Daya for a fantastic portrayal of Uncle Fester. Her wonderful characterisation captured the quirky charm of the role perfectly and added warmth and humour to many scenes. Credit also goes to her mum for the incredible make-up work, which helped bring the character vividly to life on stage.
Danny was an excellent Lurch, a compelling non-verbal presence on stage but surprising everyone with a short solo in the final song!
The production was further enhanced by the five talented Ancestors, Hugo, Alfie, Georgie, Georgina and Elissa, who maintained an impressive presence throughout the show. Their ghostly performances included a huge amount of stage time, incorporating dance, drama and vocals with great confidence and enthusiasm.
The Key Stage 2 choir also played an important role in the success of the production, providing strong and confident backing vocals throughout the performance. They later joined the cast on stage for a fabulous dance routine during Crazier Than You, helping to create one of the evening’s musical highlights.
Behind the scenes, a dedicated backstage team worked tirelessly to ensure the performance ran smoothly. Senior school volunteers Charlie, Rebecca, Harriet, Lydia, Zoe and Elena provided invaluable support throughout the production. Particular praise must go to Year 6’s very own backstage wizard, Bella, who somehow seemed to be everywhere at once while keeping everything running seamlessly backstage.
The production was also supported by an exceptional staff team. Mr Whatson led the show superbly as Director, while Mr Chambers provided outstanding musical leadership and piano accompaniment alongside Mr Phillips on drums. Mrs Morley supported pupils as drama and song coach, helping the cast develop their confidence and stagecraft throughout rehearsals. Mrs Williams, Assistant Director, played a key role in songs and dance choreography, contributing greatly to the show’s energy and polish. Thanks must also go to Mrs Norris for her support with the chorus and the Prep staff team for all of their backstage support and encouragement.
The performance was a true celebration of talent, teamwork and creativity, and everyone involved should be incredibly proud of delivering such an entertaining and memorable production.
