Ski Trip Success in the Italian Alps

During the first week of the Easter break, 34 students from Years 8 to 12 set off on an exciting ski trip to northern Italy, accompanied by five members of staff. Based in the picturesque town of Predazzo, students enjoyed a fantastic week of skiing and exploration in the Alps.

Each day brought a new adventure, with students travelling by coach to different ski areas across the region. With a wide range of abilities, from beginners to advanced skiers, every student showed impressive determination and resilience on the slopes. It was particularly rewarding to see beginners make such rapid progress, with many confidently tackling red runs by the end of the trip.

The group spent four full days skiing, with five hours on the slopes each day, making the most of the excellent conditions. Midway through the week, students enjoyed a well-earned break with a visit to the beautiful town of Bolzano, where they explored local sights and enjoyed some shopping.

The trip was not just about skiing. A range of après-ski activities added to the experience, including a thrilling mountain roller coaster ride, an evening of live music, and visits to a traditional ice cream parlour and a local pizza restaurant. These moments provided valuable opportunities for students to relax, have fun and strengthen friendships.

Students spoke fondly about their experiences.
Tabby reflected, “The ski trip was a great opportunity for us as a group, we really bonded with each other and the teachers. Many hours of the day were met with laughs and overall, a lot of fun. My favourite part of the ski trip was being on the slopes with my friends, the chair lift chats and the experience we got to share all together.”

Ivy, who was new to skiing, shared her sense of achievement: “During my time on the ski trip, I had an amazing experience. It’s difficult to pick one favourite part of the trip but if I had to, it would be when my group went down a red slope. I had never skied before – apart from the lessons at the snowdome that school organised – so I was in the beginners group. I was very proud of myself and the rest of the group for coming so far in less than a week! I thoroughly enjoyed the trip and I will definitely be going again next time.”

Ellie highlighted the social side of the trip: “What I enjoyed most about the ski trip was when we all went to a local venue for a live music night. We were able to request songs to be played, and the lyrics were put on the screen – it was like a karaoke night! Everybody sang and danced together, it felt really nice as we were able to bond with each other, and I became closer with students I have never spoken to before, because we have the same music taste!”

Following the success of this year’s visit, plans are already underway for the next ski trip in Easter 2028, with further details to be shared in due course.
