Distinctions Across the Board for Kingsley Performers

The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) is one of the UK’s most prestigious drama schools and a globally recognised awarding body for performance and communication exams. Its qualifications are designed to develop a wide range of skills, including acting, public speaking, reading for performance, and devising original work. LAMDA has been a valued part of Kingsley’s extra-curricular offering for many years, with numerous students choosing to take individual, paired or small-group lessons.

Students from both Prep (Year 4 upwards) and Senior School worked incredibly hard to prepare for their examinations. At the end of the Easter term, two examiners visited the school over the course of two days, during which 38 students showcased their work. They presented a wide range of solo, duo and group pieces, with their dedication and hard work clearly reflected in the quality of the performances they delivered.

After almost six weeks of anticipation, the results finally arrived, and we are thrilled to share that our students achieved Distinctions across the board! The youngest performer was just eight years old, while our Year 11 students were ambitiously working towards Grade 8 alongside their GCSEs. Their outstanding results reflect the talent, commitment and passion for performance that exists across the school.

The examiners’ feedback was filled with highly complementary and encouraging comments, praising the students’ creativity, technical skill and enthusiasm. Kingsley’s Head of Vocal Studies, Mrs Morley, who manages the LAMDA programme and teaches the students, commented: “I am incredibly proud of every student who took part in this year’s LAMDA exams. Their talent, creativity, and strong commitment were evident through each performance. These results are a testament not only to their hard work, but to their genuine enthusiasm for the performing arts.”

A Year 11 student, who achieved her Grade 8, reflected: “Although I was excited to do the exam, I was really nervous at first, but once I started performing, I actually enjoyed it so much. Preparing for the exam has helped me grow in confidence and express myself in new ways. Getting a Distinction felt amazing – it made all the hard work worth it, and the 30 UCAS points will help my university application too!”

As students progress through the LAMDA grades, they not only develop as confident and expressive performers but also gain valuable qualifications. Higher-level awards come with the added benefit of UCAS points, which contribute to university applications. A Grade 6 Distinction earns 12 points, a Grade 7 Distinction earns 16 points, and a Grade 8 Distinction earns an impressive 30 points.

We’re incredibly proud of all our LAMDA students and look forward to supporting their continued growth and success in the years to come.
