Senior School and Sixth Form Students Rock the Stage in ‘We Will Rock You’

Senior School and Sixth Form students delivered an electrifying run of performances in this year’s school production of We Will Rock You: School Edition, wowing audiences with a high-energy celebration of music, individuality and rebellion.

Set in a futuristic world where creativity is suppressed and live music is forbidden, the production transported audiences to the iPlanet, a dystopian version of Earth ruled by the all-powerful Globalsoft Corporation. Against this backdrop, a group of young rebels dared to challenge conformity and rediscover the power of rock ’n’ roll.

At the heart of the story were excellent performances from the entire cast. Rebecca took on the role of Galileo with confidence and charisma, while Kitty shone as the sharp-witted and rebellious Scaramouche. Bella brought commanding stage presence to the role of the formidable Killer Queen, and Ruby delighted audiences as the Commander Khashoggi. The Ga Ga Kids also deserve special recognition for their energy and enthusiasm on stage, playing their part brilliantly and adding to the vibrancy of the production.

The production brought together a talented ensemble of boys and girls from across the Senior School and Sixth Form, showcasing the depth of performance talent throughout the school. From powerful vocals to energetic choreography, the cast worked seamlessly together to bring the story to life.

A particular highlight of the show was the outstanding live band, whose performance added an extra layer of excitement and authenticity. Chris and Will impressed on guitar, Authur provided a strong backbone on bass, and Evie drove the energy from the drums, alongside a wider group of skilled student musicians who kept the spirit of rock alive throughout.

Featuring iconic songs by Queen, the production was packed with well-known hits that had audiences tapping their feet and singing along.

Director and Producer Emma Smith praised the efforts of everyone involved:
“The cast and crew have worked incredibly hard since September, and their dedication has truly paid off; they really rocked us! The show was bursting with A Kind of Magic from start to finish with Killer Queen energy throughout. A huge thank you to everyone behind the scenes, from the band to the backstage crew, for helping to make the show so special. It was a true team effort, and I couldn’t be prouder of what our students have accomplished.”

From the striking performances on stage to the tireless work behind the scenes, We Will Rock You was a true celebration of creativity, collaboration and talent.
