Year 9 Student Saira Named ‘Future Star’ at Local Hero Awards

We are incredibly proud to share the exciting news that Year 9 student Saira has been named the winner of the prestigious ‘Future Star’ award at this year’s Local Hero Awards.

The award recognises a young person under the age of 21 who has shown significant progression and growth over the past 12 months, with the potential to achieve great things in the future. Saira, a talented actress, dancer and singer, was shortlisted alongside a group of exceptional young people, each with their own inspiring stories and achievements.

Following a series of panel interviews, Saira was announced as a finalist for the award and, on Saturday 11 October, she was revealed as the winner during a star-studded ceremony. The award was presented to her by Oritsé Williams from the band JLS.

Reflecting on the evening, Saira said: “I feel so honoured to have been recognised with this award! This has been such a special evening, shared with so many special people. Meeting, and learning about, the other finalists has really inspired me, and the love and support I’ve received has been incredible.

Saira’s recent achievements speak for themselves. She has just finished filming her third named role in an international feature film, due for release next year, and previously worked on a major blockbuster sequel. In addition to her film work, Saira has appeared in several commercials and corporate campaigns, including for Macmillan Education, Bank of London, and most recently, GoHenry’s social media campaign.

We are delighted to celebrate Saira’s ongoing success and can’t wait to see what the future holds for her. Her determination, creativity and work ethic make her a true role model within our school community.
