Notices & Reminders

LOCKDOWN PRACTICE

The whole school conducted a practice lockdown drill on Thursday this week as part of our emergency incident planning. A lockdown might be required if there is a danger or risk in the local area such as a disturbance that the police have alerted us to, a chemical gas leak, an intruder or other dangerous situation. All schools must ensure that they are prepared for such occurrences, and similar to fire drills, we are required to undertake practices on regular basis to ensure that our school community knows how to respond.

During a lockdown we ensure the children are safe, out of sight and quiet. A key part of managing the situation is to control the communications and avoid panic. We ask pupils to not use their mobile phones and instead the school will organise centralised messaging to parents; you will have noted the message you received alerting you to the practice commencing and its conclusion.

Real lockdowns are hopefully a rare occurrence; nevertheless, being prepared is vital. This week’s practice was carried out excellently by all pupils and we are very proud of how everyone conducted themselves.

ADMINISTRATION OF MEDICINES IN SCHOOL

Parents are kindly reminded that all medicines that your child needs to take during the day should be handed to the School Nurse, or the School Office in her absence. Medication must be in the original packaging with your child’s name clearly printed on all packaging. All medicines, except for asthma inhalers and Adrenaline Auto Injectors (AAI) must please be handed to the Nurse for safe storage. An extra AAI and/or reliever inhaler is required, for safe storage in case of Emergency.

Ibuprofen and Paracetamol are available for Senior School pupils, if your consent has been given on your child’s medical form. A written record will be sent home should administration be required, and we ask that if any medication has been given before school that the School Nurse is notified by email, nurse@kingsleyschool.co.uk

SUMMER PRIZE GIVING – SAVE THE DATE!

We are delighted to announce that we will host a Summer Prize Giving event on the afternoon of Tuesday, 5 July 2022. This event will be an annual celebration of pupils in Years 5 to 13 and will take place at The Royal Spa Centre in Leamington Spa. All pupils in Years 5 to 13 will be in attendance and invitations will be sent to parents of prize winners and student leavers.

SENIOR SCHOOL OPEN MORNING

We are looking forward to our Senior School Open Morning on Saturday, 14 May.

This initiative is very much an open school day and will provide an exciting opportunity for all current pupils to showcase their school and how they have grown during their time at Kingsley. To this end we are requesting that all pupils arrive for an 8.30am start and will be finishing at 1.30pm.

We very much hope that your daughter will be able to attend school for this event and demonstrate being the amazing advocate for Kingsley she already is. It is a particularly excellent opportunity for current Year 5 and Year 6 pupils to see the Senior School.

If you or your daughter have any questions, you can contact the school office email: schooloffice@kingsleyschool.co.uk

SOCIAL MEDIA PRIVACY TIPS

As you well know, many children have access to social media platforms, but some may be unaware of some settings that carers or children themselves can take to keep them as safe as possible online.

Take a look at the poster attached here to explore some of the privacy settings that can be set on some of the most popular social media platforms. You may find this a useful guide to share amongst your school communities.

COVID-19 GUIDANCE

As you will be aware, the Government has issued its Living with Covid-19 plan:

www.gov.uk/government/news/new-guidance-sets-out-how-to-live-safely-with-covid-19.

If a pupil is unwell, they should be resting until they are well enough to return to the classroom.

If they are not unwell and do not have a high temperature, then advice is that they remain at school.

We will keep this under review. In the event of a major outbreak at one of our schools, it continues to be the case that we may be advised to take additional measures, including a temporary return to remote learning for some pupils.
