Starting nursery is a big milestone for both children and families, which is why we take a personalised approach to settling in.
All children are offered three settling-in sessions before they start nursery. The first session lasts for 30 minutes and is an important opportunity to complete your ‘All About Me’ forms with our staff. This session also gives your child time to explore the room, become familiar with their surroundings and begin to build relationships with their key staff members.
The second settling-in visit takes place on a different day and can include the remaining two sessions. During the first 30 minutes, we ask parents to stay on site but out of sight, allowing their child the opportunity to explore independently. If your child is happy and settled, we encourage parents to leave the setting for the remaining 30 minutes.
We understand that every child is unique and that children settle at different rates. Some children may need additional sessions, while others may feel comfortable sooner. We will always work closely with families and tailor the settling-in process around each individual child to ensure they feel safe, secure and confident.
From your child’s very first day, we provide daily updates at collection, sharing details about how they have settled, what they have enjoyed and any special moments from their day. This helps families feel connected and reassured as their child begins their nursery journey.
Parents also have access to our fantastic nursery app, which provides daily updates. Through the app, you can see what your child has been doing, their progress and development, what they have eaten, toileting updates and photos of their experiences at nursery.
