18th March 2020 The Kingsley School

With the government announcement this evening regarding the impact of the COVID-19 virus, the Senior Leadership Team is following the instruction to close all phases of The Kingsley School as of Friday 20th March at 4:00pm.

The health and wellbeing of our community is of paramount importance to us; we want to ensure the safety of our school and the wider community and to minimise the potential for the spread of any infection. Please be assured that we are following all advice from the government and Public Health England on the evolving situation and its effect on our school community.

Our contingency plans for remote working and teaching will take effect immediately as detailed this week. A reminder of these plans can be accessed here. A copy of our Prep School letter is also available here, and Prep teachers will be emailing copies of all documents to parents tomorrow. Our team are on hand and available via email for concerns, support and guidance. If you are a key worker, please let us know how we can help.

We will continue to remain in close contact throughout this time so that we can react quickly as the situation evolves. We will be posting regularly on our social media channels and on the school website, as well as making contacting direct via the Clarioncall system.

Tonight’s announcement states that the summer public examinations will not take place in May and June. In the meantime we will continue to set work and prepare for a possible altered schedule. As soon as we have more information, hopefully tomorrow, we will pass it on to examination year groups.

We advise that all pupils who are able to come to school tomorrow arrive prepared to empty their lockers by the end of the day, and ensure that they have the books and resources necessary for working from home. Subject and class teachers will be available to guide them through any particular concerns. School minibuses will depart at a later time to allow for multiple trips to gather belongings and, as best as we can, minibus drivers will drop pupils near home. If you are currently self-isolating, we are sorry that you cannot collect your books at this time.

This is a worrying time for all of us. We are very grateful to all of you who have supported the school in such difficult and unprecedented circumstances for the whole country. Our priority is to keep the Kingsley community as safe and calm as possible and help our children navigate this anxious time.
