Physical Education is taught within form groups and ability sets in all years. The department focuses on improving a student’s personal best while maintaining a balanced and active healthy lifestyle.
Key Stage 3: Years 7-9
Students follow a broad range of different activities throughout the year. In Years 7, 8 and 9 they have 1 hour of Physical Education a week and 2 hours of Games off-site predominantly at our extensive sports fields on Sandy Lane. Both sessions follow a 6 week rota system.

Key Stage 4: GCSE
All students may take GCSE Physical Education as an option at the start of Year 10. They will follow the AQA Specification and work towards attaining their four highest scoring activities (from a range completed throughout the course) and undertaking a controlled assessment task on improving their own or another students sporting performance.
In Year 10 all students receive a three hour block of Physical Education and Games per fortnight.

In Year 11 all Students receive two and a half hours of Physical Education and Sport over a fortnight they get to choose their own activities in 7 week blocks

Extra-Curricular Activities
- Over 20 clubs and practices run on a weekly and fortnightly basis across all year groups. All students are welcome to attend to gain a place on a sports team or to improve their own personal skills.
- Fixtures take place both during the school day, afterschool and on some Saturday and Sunday mornings
